Mehmet Yumak

Born in Augsburg Germany, Yumak studied at Istanbul State Conservatory, and graduated in 2000 from the John Cranko Ballet Academy Stuttgart after studying with Pyotr Pestov. Later that year, he joined the Hannover State Ballet Theatre, and in 2003 the National Ballet of Portugal. Since 2007, he has been a member of Staatsballett Berlin.

Yumak’s repertoire includes George Balanchine’s Serenade and Who Cares, Uwe Scholz’s Symphony Fantastic and Fire Bird, Hans Van Mannen’s 5 Tango, Concertante Empty Place, created by Renato Zanella, Nacho Duato’s Without Words and Por Vos Muerro, Return to Strange Land, created by Jiri Kylian, Heinz Spoerli’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Peer Gynt, Mauro Bigonzetti’s Caravaggio, Pedro e Ines and Seven Silences of Salome, created by Olga Roriz, Gestos de Filigrana, created by Vaco Wellenkamp, and Angelin Preljocaj’s Snow White.
