Opening Night with Joshua Bell

A truly one-of-a-kind experience, Festival del Sole kicks off its ninth season pairing Castello di Amorosa and the rock star of the classical music world, Joshua Bell

The evening is generously hosted by winery owner Dario Sattui with support from First Republic Bank. The wines, setting and music will be one for the history books.

Castello di Amorosa, a top Napa destination, seduces wine aficionados and history buffs alike with its poetic ramparts, statuesque towers and unparalleled views of Calistoga’s surrounding Diamond Mountain District vineyards. Guests will be treated to a pre-concert reception of wine and hors d’oeuvres atop the castle tower and in the fresco-adorned Great Hall.

Tonight’s concert features Bell playing his famous 1713 Stradivarius violin in the winery’s intimate courtyard. Equally at ease playing to sold-out concert halls across the globe as he is recording the Oscar-winning soundtrack for the film The Red Violin, Bell has straddled both popular and classical stardom. For Opening Night, Bell and the Sphinx Virtuosi perform one of the most beloved classical music pieces ever written, Vivaldi’s Four Seasons

  • Pre-concert reception: 6:00 pm
  • Doors open: 6:45 pm
  • Concert begins: 7:00 pm

After the concert, VIP Passholders will enjoy a special Patron Dinner in Castello di Amorosa's Grand Barrel Room.

The Sphinx Symphony Orchestra’s appearance is made possible by Tatiana and Gerret Copeland, with additional support from Athena and Timothy Blackburn.
