Opus One has conjured up an experience for you that spans two of the world’s great wine regions, Napa and Bordeaux, with an adventure in La Ville Lumière (aka Paris) along the way. Since the historic meeting between Baron Philippe de Rothschild and Robert Mondavi in 1978, Opus One has had one goal: to produce exceptional wine that embraces and reflects the best that each family and culture has to offer. This is your chance to savor it all in unforgettable style.
In Napa, David Pearson will host you and five guests for an intimate dinner celebration held in the Salon at Opus One winery. You will not leave the dinner empty-handed, but rather carrying one of the original six-packs of Opus One. That first case holds two bottles of the 1979 vintage and four of the 1980 vintage, released during the inaugural Auction Napa Valley, and sold for a then record price of $24,000.
To keep the party going, you will also add to your personal wine collection a 12-year vertical of Opus One six-packs dating from 1981 to 1992, courtesy of a private donor as well as a double magnum (3L) of Opus One 2010.
Then it’s off to Bordeaux for a private visit to Château Mouton Rothschild and other great châteaux of the Médoc, and dinner in the beautiful 19th century Opus One Bordeaux townhouse, all while luxuriating for two nights in accommodations at the elegant Le Grand Hôtel Bordeaux.
You’ll travel to Paris next, via the TGV (which is among the fastest, not to mention most glamorous, high-speed rail transit systems in the world). Your home base for the next two days will be at the spectacular Four Seasons Hotel Georges V, located just steps from the Champs-Elysées. The next day, you’ll be whisked off to the Château de Versailles, where you will be treated to a private tasting of Opus One, coupled with an after-hours tour of the Palace and the extraordinary Versailles et l’Indépendance américaine exhibition. Afterward, you will segue to a dinner hosted by Opus One at Le Cinq, Paris’ newest three-star Michelin restaurant. Vive la France! Vive la Napa! Vive Opus One!
