The glory of Rome is one thing, but Tuscany, ah Tuscany. With its medieval towns and hilltop fortresses, its rolling hills, vine-planted hillsides and olive groves, its art-rich cities and fashion powerhouses, Tuscany is Italy’s most magical province.
Your home for the week is Jackson Family Wines’ glorious Arcanum Estate. Located in Siena, the medieval Gothic jewel of Tuscany, the Arcanum Estate traces its history all the way back to pre-Roman times and is bordered by the ancient, walled town of San Gusmé.
You will travel in style to Il Palio di Siena, the famed and spectacularly thrilling horse race that has been attracting visitors to Siena since the 1500s. You’ll have a first-class view from your private apartment overlooking the Piazza del Campo, one of Europe’s great medieval squares. Accompanied by an Italian feast, you can cheer on your adopted Contrada’s horse and jockey from your private perch. Your insider access to this exhilarating spectacle also includes what many consider the ultimate prize: attending a traditional Contrada dinner the night before the big race.
Florence, one of the world’s great shopping cities, is also on the agenda when you spend time with Angela Carpio for a personal-guided shopping extravaganza through the city where Gucci, Salvatore Ferragamo, Roberto Cavalli and Emilio Pucci all began their storied careers.
Then it’s time to rev up your engines and get behind the wheel for one of the world’s most exhilarating automotive experiences – driving a custom Pagani, which you will do at its atelier in San Cesario sul Panaro.
Two magnums of vintage 2007–2009 – considered the pinnacle of Arcanum Estate wines – will be yours to take home as mementos of a week spent making history of your own.
