Festival del Sole presents the Napa premiere of 24 Hour Plays, starring film and theater actors creating, learning and performing four short plays in the space of a day, with musical interludes from Vivaldi's Four Seasons performed live by the Russian National Orchestra. Jacqueline Piccolino, Soprano

Soprano Jacqueline Piccolino, a native of Chicago, is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Music degree at the University of Illinois studying under the direction of Cynthia Haymon. Ms. Piccolino was seen recently as a Studio Artist with the Wolf Trap Opera Company in the summer of 2011, where she sang in the mainstage productions of Le donne curiose, Sweeney Todd, and Les contes d’Hoffmann.

This will be a night like no other – a beach party, Napa style! – together with the music, cuisine and memories of a perfect Festival del Sole experience.

Échappé String Quartet 

The Échappé String Quartet is a Preparatory Division ensemble at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music (SFCM). Members of the Échappé String Quartet are Alyssa Wang and Da Eun Kim, violins; Hayaka Komatsu, viola; and Tyler DeVigal, cello.  The Échappé String Quartet recently received the 2012 Mondavi Young Artist Competition Ensemble Award as well as the Bouchaine Young Artists Prize.

The captivating Danielle de Niese, dubbed "opera's coolest soprano" by The New York Times Magazine, joins Maestro Riccardo Frizza and the Russian National Orchestra for a concert under the stars at Castello di Amorosa.

Mayumi Kanagawa, Violin

Seventeen-year-old violinist Mayumi Kanagawa is recent graduate of The Colburn School Academy in Los Angeles, where she studied with Robert Lipsett, and the Crossroads School for Arts and Sciences.  First prize winner of the 2011 Irving M. Klein Competition in San Francisco, she has also won top prizes in the Cooper, Stulberg, and Corpus Christi International Competitions, and has soloed with many orchestras including the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, the New West Symphony, Culver City and Torrance Symphonies, and the Western Michigan University Orchestra.

World-renowned baritone Nathan Gunn, accompanied by pianist Julie Jordan Gunn, join friends Lisa Delan, Nina Kotova, Maxim Rubtsov, Kristin Pankonin, and Angel Romero in a program of chamber music by John Corigliano, William Bolcom, and others.

Seduction, Smoke and Music tells the love story of Frédéric Chopin, the renowned composer, and George Sand, the infamous cigar-smoking French novelist and feminist. The theatrical concert explores the unfolding of their passionate relationship over a decade.

Sarina Zhang, Cello

Sarina Zhang has accumulated a mantel full of top awards as both pianist and cellist. She was a finalist at the 2011 Stulberg International String Competition. Sarina won the First Place in the 2010 Aspen Music Festival’s low strings competition and was awarded alternate in their piano concerto competition. In 2009, Sarina won the Juilliard Pre-College Dvorák Cello Concerto Competition and was named a 2009 Davidson Fellow by the Davidson Institute for Talent Development. In the same year, Sarina won the New York Ensemble 212 Young Artist Competition.
