Community Concert: Youth Choirs

This special community concert at the Napa Valley Opera House presents three youth choirs, from Indonesia, Lithuania and Denmark, fresh from their participation in the Golden Gate International Children's and Youth Choral Festival.

Representing a diverse and refreshing breadth of styles, cultures and repertoires, these three choirs – Budi Mulia Dua, Kivi and Klarup Pigekor – bring their youthful energy and their budding musical talent to Festival del Sole in this free family concert that is sure to delight.

Directions

From Hwy 29: Take the First Street exit east to Main Street and turn RIGHT. The Opera House is on the left. Public parking is available in the movie theater lot on West Street, behind the Opera House, and there is also a parking garage within a few blocks.

This Lithuanian youth choir was established in 1997 and is comprised of young girls aged 16-18. The all-girl choir sings without a conductor, moves about the stage, and create their own inventive improvisations.

Denmark's Klarup Pigekor Girls' Choir consists of some 35 girls aged 14-25 and hailing from Aalborg and its surrounding area. The choir's ideals and characteristics are that of a pure Nordic choir mediated through its diverse repertoire.

Indonesia's Budi Mulia Dua (BMD) Choir was established in 2007 as a creative outlet for BMD students who have shown a talent in music. Members of the choir come from BMD’s elementary, junior high, and senior high schools.
