Festival del Sole is committed to enriching the cultural and economic vitality of Napa Valley and dedicated to cultivating a vibrant community where the arts thrive. The festival supports meaningful year-round educational and cultural initiatives throughout the Napa community.
Arts Education & Outreach
Music and the arts are vital to every child’s education. Ensuring the youth of Napa Valley have access to both the arts and arts education is central to Festival del Sole’s mission. Over the past four years, Festival del Sole has awarded nearly $400,000 in grants to nonprofits, schools and arts organizations. Gifts include $24,000 in scholarship funds for Napa Valley Youth Symphony students, a $34,000 grant to support Salvador Elementary’s Artful Learning program, and more than $75,000 to bolster art, music and drama programs in Napa County schools.
The arts are an invaluable tool to bring communities together. Each season festival artists offer free workshops, master classes and performances to local students, artists and teachers.
Community Concerts & Performance Access
Festival del Sole aspires to nurture a lifelong love of the arts by providing an opportunity for the entire community to experience and enjoy live performances. The festival’s admission-free Community Concerts have welcomed nearly 11,000 local residents to exceptional performances. The Bouchaine Young Artist Series is presented to the public free of charge. In addition, hundreds of free and discounted concert tickets are distributed each season to veterans, student groups and others to ensure access to festival programs for all. In total, Festival del Sole offers over 20 percent of each season's concert seats free of charge.
Bouchaine Young Artist Series
With the generous support of Bouchaine Vineyards’ proprietors Gerret and Tatiana Copeland, Festival del Sole has presented over 30 of America’s most talented young musicians in admission-free concerts. Students selected to participate have the opportunity to hone their performance skills in a professional, challenging and inspiring environment, and receive a generous scholarship from the festival, underwritten by Mr. and Mrs. Copeland. These young musicians serve as role models and contribute to the continued renewal and relevance of the performing arts.
Festival del Sole has supported numerous community organizations through grants and in-kind donations, including the Napa Valley Performing Arts Center at Lincoln Theater, the Vine Trail, St. Helena Hospital Foundation, Family House, V Foundation, Music Academy of the West, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Music in Schools Today, The Pathway Home, Music Connection, the Napa Education Foundation, and the Napa Land Trust, among others.
